District Improvement Information

 

Red Clay parents were recently mailed a letter from the Delaware Department of Education of the District Improvement status, the department is required under No Child Left Behind to send these letters to the parents of all students attending schools in a District under Improvement.  The district has taken action to address areas of need. The Success Plan mentioned in the letter is provided below. Also listed are important facts that will allow you to see improvement of the district from 2008 to 2009.

  • In 2008 the district missed 18 cells, in 2009  the district missed 14 out of 104 district cells. We met 87% of our total cells this year. Red Clay has the most cells of any Delaware district.
  • Of the 14 cells missed, 4 were at the high school level (out of 38 total cells), 4 were at the middle school level (out of 33 total cells), and 6 were at the elementary school level (out of 33 total cells).
  • Our Graduation Rates improved in all cells in 2009 from 2008
  • Red Clay district schools met 91% of all cells combined
  • In our high schools,  4 out of 5 schools met AYP . If our charter schools are included, 6 out of 7 high schools met AYP.
  • In our middle schools, 4 out of 6 schools met AYP.
  • In our elementary schools, 13 out of 15 made AYP (7 out of 9 Title I schools).
