New School Drawings Presented to Community
The Red Clay community got its first look at the new elementary school designs at the last Board of Education meeting on Dec. 12, 2012. Architect Brad Hastings, principal architect for the project from the Becker Morgan Group, shared an overview of the project, which included numerous drawings of the school and the site.
Hastings noted that the design for the building was driven by the Design Committee, a group that included teachers, community members and students. The full presentation can be seen here.
Plans for the school will be presented in detail again at a community meeting on Wednesday January 23rd, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church on Graves Road. At this meeting, representatives from the project team will share an overview of the site plans and answer questions from the community.
The new 600 student elementary school is being built on Graves Road, after the community supported the need in a February 2012 referendum. The school is scheduled to open in August 2015. Red Clay is currently accepting nominations for a name for the new school. Information about the naming process can be found at: http://www.edline.net/pages/RedClay/Facilities/News/Whats_In_A_Name
